MEET RAJI

A thing you should know about me…

I haven’t ever followed just one path, and it hasn’t made sense to most people. It’s one of the reasons I became a social worker - it’s an ever evolving path that’s expanded with my interests, aligned with my personality that rebels against fitting into just one box.

My life experiences have been just as varied - privileged in many ways and impacted in others. As someone who develops wisdom from my life experiences, this has brought a depth and expansiveness to my life in so many ways, yet it has also come with great pain and confusion, and at times a yearning for a more “normal” or easier path. While our journeys are all about dispelling conditioning in all its various ways, it’s also about growing our acceptance of what is normal for us however changing and fluid it appears to others. Perhaps you’re like me and have felt confused about your purpose, where you’re going, or what you’re path is no matter what age, or you desire more acceptance of who you are at your core.

My full name is Rajilakshmi - but I’ve always gone by Raji for short!

I grew up in a bicultural household in Houston, Texas, (my father is Indian and my mother is white) before the nuances of mixed race identity became an articulated experience. My parents’ non-traditional path allowed for a blending of cultures and an opportunity to do things differently, which laid a foundation for my values of acceptance and openness (and probably some of my rebellious ways). We celebrated holidays, integrated rituals, and incorporated traditions from two cultures - it’s common for us to have Indian food and BBQ at the same time! This has also meant navigating growing up American with the cultural expectations of my heritage, one that values community over individuality and at times sacrifice of the self for the bigger whole.

With my grandparents in India, we either traveled extensively to see them or they lived with us for extended periods. In a large family with multiple generations under the same roof, I know the sense of belonging and safety it can bring as well as utter chaos. Early experiences traveling to India gave me a sense of home in places far different from where I grew up and I’ve had a lifelong interest in experiencing other cultures, ways of life, and carry with me a shared humanity wherever I go.

My parents are both medical professionals - western medicine and healing others were part of the family fabric. I also grew up in a community of mission-driven nuns who integrated social justice in every aspect of my learning. My experiences with trauma and my own natural sensitivities gave me a deep empathy, a natural inclination to take care of others, and a talent to do so. Throughout my 20s, I started the process of my own healing and became deeply motivated to understand how our life experiences shape us, influence our relationships, an ultimately how we heal. Into my thirties, I built a life I thought wanted and was most true to me at the time.

My mid-thirties marked another radical change which probably has been the most transformational shift in my life thus far. With the unexpected end to a relationship, I unraveled layers of conditioning women and women of color are prone to, explored alternative healing modalities and rebuilt with the loudest guidance issued from my soul. It is from this foundation woven together of heart, mind, and soul, and an understanding of what you’re going through that I welcome my clients and honor our work together.

As a relational person, connection and community are super important to me. The love and unity in relationship and community can really bring a sense of awe unlike any other and it is in developing this relationship with self that rises to meet the people we choose to be in relationship with. Growing on this path can also be one filled with high highs, and low lows, and be some of the most challenging and life changing experiences.

While all of the above can seem daunting or overwhelming (and there are times it certainly is), humor is essential in my life and I aim to share that with you too. We might have hard work to do, but we’re going to do it with a little or a lot of laughter.

So whether you’re in the midst of major upheaval, transition or confusion in your identity, relationships, or community, I’m here as a consistent ally to help you gain stability through your own inner knowing. Through this sacred container of our connection, I’m most interested in helping you uncover and accept your true self, understand what you truly want now, and feel empowered not just to claim it but identify the steps to go after it in a way that is fully you.

  my beliefs

All of our experiences, including trauma, are stored in the body sometimes in our conscious awareness and other times in the unconscious realms. Somatic therapy can help heal these experiences to be integrated in the most adaptive way for your current life. The reason why I love modalities like TRM, EMDR, and Brainspotting is that you don’t have to talk about your trauma in order to heal from it.

Even the person most willing and dedicated to their healing and growth can have unconscious blocks. This is where hypnotherapy can help. Accessing the subconscious and bringing it into conscious awareness can be incredibly powerful when you’ve had other types of therapy before.

Sometimes our thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and traumas are coming from other lifetimes and we need to go back even further - this is where past life regression comes in.

AND SCULPTED BY THE WINDS OF THE IBLEI MOUNTAINS,

GRACEFULLY EMBRACES ONE ONE SIDE OF THE ROAD."
